Use by dates on tinned foods is in some weird code. Unfortunately most of us don't know the code lol.

A few years ago there was talk about putting proper dates on cans but I guess they never got around to it.

General rule of thumb. Rust or swelling - toss it out.

Yes thanks for that peace, I just wasn't sure how long they could keep for.

Honey is an amazing product and can be used for so many things hey?

I worry about things being too packaged, if that makes sense lol.

Thanks again you are always a fountain of info Smile

feral-that's why they invented canning-to make foods keep. I come from a time before useby dates and we never had any trouble-the only thing they told you to look out for were cans that had started to bulge upwards on the lid because they would be toxic. The same sort of thing they use, to tell if food in jars has gone off. They put the little button in the middle that sucks in when the hot food they pour in cools off.If it has popped up-there is some nasty activity likely to be going on.
This is not always the case either-foods that have natural preservatives in them like salt sugar vinegar and honey , will usually last a long time. That was the old way of preserving anything before methods like tinning and bottling.Honey found in Egyptian tombs is still edible today because of it's antibacterial properties.
Years ago-in a small country town supermarket-I used to regularly buy a tin of condensed milk every fortnite because that particular batch had been there for so many years, it had turned to caramel inside the can- without me having to even heat it.
I'm more worried about the fact you can't buy almost anything packaged these days that hasn't aluminium shite on the inside of the packet.

Nah nothing printed on them date wise, have looked and looked...grrrrrr, there are some numbers but not date related, tis so annoying - such a waste to just chuck em.

Anyway might open em all up and feed em to the inlaws chickens lol.

Its usually printed on the one end of the can. Cans these day have a plastic coating on the inside so will last a little longer, If there is any rust on the cans I would wait till the rallies come over and feed it to them..
