Was bored and hungry earlier, had lots of caps to get rid of, so I got 3 sheets of puff pastry, spread some tomato passata on each one, sprinkled some red capsicum/onion/cheese and ham, rolled each one up and cut into pieces. Then I baked them, (after I brushed the tops with egg), smells damn good and tastes pretty good too!  Very simple to make Smile

I just saw this on a recipe site and thought I would save it here. Glad I did. I had totally forgotten about the Sugared Almonds. I must make them again too.

PARMESAN
CRUSTED POTATOES

3 small to medium baking potatoes, halved lengthwise (longer, thinner potatoes work well)
2 ½ tablespoons olive oil
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
½ teaspoon kosher or sea saltand a few turns of the pepper mill
Chives, optional

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Coat the bottom of a 9×9-baking dish with the olive oil, and then evenly distribute the grated Parmesan over the olive oil. Sprinkle with the salt and pepper.

Place the potato halves, cut side down, on top of the cheese mixture and bake for 45-50 minutes or until the potatoes are very tender when pierced with the tip of a knife. Precise baking time will depend on the thickness of your potatoes.

Cool for five minutes before serving. Remove to a platter with a metal spatula, and
garnish with snipped chives, if desired. Leftovers are equally delicious reheated in the oven.

I just made the first batch. DELICIOUS!!! The boys approve now I might have to hide them. NO stirring either unlike sugar coated peanuts

Ingredients

  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 4 cups whole almonds

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F. Beat the egg white with the vanilla extract, add the almonds and stir to coat. Combine the sugar, salt, and cinnamon and combine with mixture. Place in a single layer on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 300 degrees F for 20 minutes. Remove and cool on wax paper and break into clusters

You could do it that way for rolls Rumi..or simply roll some prepared dough mixture into lengths making sure the middle is thick and the end bits are skinny and do them in circles with one skinny end sticking up through the middle..kind of looks like a pecker when you do it lol.. .. a bit like the first part of doing shoe laces up

K thanks Marg

The recipe I was looking at was for knot bread rolls. It says roll it into a 12 inch rope then knot it. All I can make of it is to twist it then knot it? lol

It's a mould for your pastry to make the appearance of rope ...there are ropes for sweets also ..but it also can refer to the pattern itself on pastry...

Anyone know what a 'rope' is when talking about pastry?

Am guessing they mean like a twist?

Here is my first effort with a 2 ingredient cake. I forgot to get lemonade yesterday so I used a chocolate packet cake and Coke lol

It's quite sticky so, I think, next time I would have it as a dessert with ice cream, hot fudge sauce or custard
